Pay attention to the IELTS website for how your score is calculated. I've copied a little of the information here, or you can click on the link above.
So, if you get 30 marks out of 40 in Academic Reading, your IELTS score will be 7.
Then, this score is added with the Listening, Writing and Speaking scores to get a total. This total is divided by 4 to get an average.
It is very important to know how the examiner marks your writing and speaking, and then how the whole score is calculated.
